Jon, I don't know you but it sounds like you're invested a lot in "fun."
Just to be clear: I’m not saying “Don’t have fun!” I’m not saying “Don’t love what you do!” I used the words “challenging, engaging, enlightening and enjoyable.” Maybe they mean “fun” to you. I love using Miro and Mural – they are two amazingly useful and helpful tools. I wouldn’t necessarily call them “fun.”
I use theatrical tools, creative tools, creation tools in my work. They are usually very fun to do. But they are a means to an end, they are not the end.
One of the many things I liked about working with the Luma Institute was their description of Human Centered Design: “Design is the discipline of developing solutions in the service of people.”
Again, there seems to be a conflation between creativity and fun. People like authors, artists and actors who make their living by creating don't necessarily have fun. They probably go through lots of anxiety and self doubt and extremely hard work. Are you really saying they are doing it wrong?
